Custom Keyboard Shortcuts

If you find yourself accessing the same menu items again and again with your mouse you can save time and mousing by assigning it a keyboard shortcut. This Mac feature is also useful if you find that an existing keyboard shortcut inconvenient or if it interferes with a global keyboard shortcut. Editing keyboard shortcuts is very simple and can make using your Mac even more productive and fun.

If an action exists anywhere in the application menu it can be assigned a shortcut.

1. Just find the menu item and make a note of its exact name.
2. Go to System Preferences > Keyboard
3. Select the “Keyboard Shortcuts” tab
4. Click the “+”
5. Choose the application
6. Type the name of the menu item
7. Assign the shortcut
